In a recent interview with Humans Of Bombay, actor Arshad Warsi recalled the moment when he first met Jaya Bachchan. He revealed, “I thought I was going to get fired! I thought, ‘Hmm Jaya Bachchan, let her fire us, why not? Amitabh Bachchan ki biwi hai! Inke muh se do-chaar gaaliya achchi lagegi, it will be a story in my life.’ So I thought I would get fired, but she kept asking me if I speak Hindi, and I kept saying she does, in English, she was so nervous. She then told me: ‘You are making the film.’ I died! I said ab khatam.”
The movie in question is Tere Mere Sapne, produced by Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited, which was released in 1996 and also starred Chandrachur Singh and Priya Gill. Arshad had asked Bachchan years later what had convinced her to take him in the film and she said that in the 36 photos she had sent him, they all had a different expression.
