Murphy opens up about the first call he received from the director about him playing the role of Oppenheimer and shares his sense of excitement and gratitude.

Says Cillian Murphy: “Christopher Nolan’s phone call to Oppenheimer was unforgettable. It’s been 20 years since I met Chris, but even then he was a fan, because he had seen Memento and Insomnia,” says Murphy, whose first meeting with Nolan was auditioning for Bruce Wayne in Batman Beginsa role that ultimately went to Christian Bale.

He further added: “Meeting Chris for that movie, which I personally always thought was a crazy idea; me playing batman! It was huge for me. But that meeting led to the character of the Scarecrow, and an extraordinary work experience. My feeling ever since has been that if Christopher Nolan asks you to do something, no matter the size of the role, you just show up. I didn’t expect him to call me and ask me to play Oppenheimer. But he did. When I hung up the phone, I sat in a pretty dazed state. I felt very lucky. And then we got to work.”

Produced by Universal Pictures (distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery), oppenheimer It will be released on July 21 in Indian theaters and advance bookings in Indian IMAX theaters have already been successfully opened.
