King Arthur Drama ‘The Winter King’ Ordered at MGM+
MGM Studios has ordered King Arthur drama “The Winter King”, set to be a deconstruction of the Arthurian legend.
The series, produced by Hartswood Films, follows King Arthur as he takes the throne and the tumultuous events that follow. The Winter King is set to explore the darker side of the legend.
Writer and executive producer, Stephen Butchard, describes the series as “a story of power and consequence,” and highlights the relevance of its themes in today’s society.
Butchard is no stranger to bringing historical events to the screen, having previously worked on “The Last Kingdom”, which follows the story of the Viking invasions of Britain in the ninth century.
Hartswood Films executive producer, Sue Vertue, who worked with Butchard on “The Last Kingdom”, states she is excited about exploring the Arthurian legend in a fresh and innovative way.
No details have been announced regarding the cast or release date for “The Winter King”.
