Oppenheimer: Reference To Bhagavad Gita In Cillian Murphy’s Sex Scene Sparks Outrage, ‘Delete It Worldwide’-Entertainment News, Unlisted News – UnlistedNews

While filmmaker Christopher Nolan oppenheimerwhich is based on the life of American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, opened to sold-out theaters across the country and sparked outrage among Indian audiences over the reference to the Bhagavad Gita during a sex scene with Cillian Murphy and Florence Pugh.

Government of India Information Commissioner Uday Mahurkar tweeted, sharing a statement from the Save Culture Save India Foundation, which read: “One is stumped how the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) could approve the film with this scene. A divine gift to human civilization by Bhagwan Sri Krishna, the Bhagwad Geeta, is one of Hinduism’s most revered scriptures. Geeta has been the inspiration for countless sanyasis, brahmcharis and legends who live a life of self-control and perform noble and selfless deeds.

The statement further said: “We do not know the motivation and logic behind this unnecessary scene in the life of a scientist. One scene in the film shows a woman making a man read Bhagwad Geeta aloud while he gets over it and has sex.

In the scene, Jean (Florence Pugh) makes Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) read Bhagwad Geeta while getting over it and having sex.

“We believe that if you (Christopher Nolan) remove this scene and do whatever it takes to win the hearts of Hindus, it will go a long way to establishing your credentials as a sensitive human being and befriending billions of kind people. We urge, on behalf of billions of Hindus and the timeless tradition of lives transformed by the revered Geeta, to do everything necessary to uphold the dignity of her revered book and remove this scene from her film around the world,” the Save Culture Save India Foundation statement read.

Boycott in India?

Many social media users called for a boycott of Christopher Nolan’s direction when one netizen wrote, “I’m calling for a boycott of the movie.” oppenheimer. I just found out that there is a very offensive scene involving the Bhagavad Gita. I will not repeat it here, but it is something explicit”.
