Valentino challenges masculine notions – UnlistedNews

Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli’s collection for the coming summer had a feminine touch, seen in soft colors and flowing shapes.

Fashion house Valentino kicked off Milan Fashion Week’s menswear previews on June 16, with a collection rooted in tailoring and playful colours.

Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli’s collection for next summer had a feminine touch, seen in soft colors and flowing shapes. But it was the floral details that elevated the collection, claims an AP report. The show was held in the inner courtyard of the University of Milan, with some students also present for the show.

“Shorts were sometimes transformed into a skirt. And tailored bottoms (shorts, pants, or skirt) could be paired with a shirt, boxy top, or silk V-neck with contrasting ties that billowed with the welcoming breeze.

“Floral notes enhanced the looks, like timeless eyelets that give life to garments with sequins, appliqués, embroidery and graphic prints, never the same. From white and then black, the color palette exploded into fuchsia and pink, red and royal blue, with hints of gray, always in clean and studied monochromes”, adds the AP report.

The fashion house, owned by the Qatari investment fund Mayhoola since 2012, announced a donation to the university for scholarships for the upcoming academic year. He also said he is working with a company to recycle, reuse or resell catwalk materials, and is planting trees in the Milan Public Gardens near Valentino’s Milan offices, the AP report says.
