Stunning Night-Time View of Dubai from Space by UAE Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi
On Wednesday, UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi shared with awe a stunning night-time view of Dubai from space, where he is currently on a six-month mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The image showcases Dubai’s famous landmarks, such as the Palm Jumeirah and Jebel Ali, as well as residential areas like the Jumeirah Village Circle.
Al Neyadi wrote on Twitter, “Dubai shines almost as bright as the stars up here,” praising the city’s beauty.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, also shared the mesmerizing photograph on his Twitter account. In his post, he describes the picture as “an awe-inspiring photograph of Dubai taken by Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi,” and praises the UAE’s exceptional advancements both on Earth and beyond.
The photograph has since gone viral on social media, accumulating more than 10,000 likes. Comments on the post were filled with adjectives such as “beautiful,” and “mesmerizing.” “This photograph is not only a stunning work of art, but a reminder of the UAE’s commitment to innovation and excellence,” wrote one user. Another user expressed amazement: “Beautiful picture of Dubai… from space… wonderful… maashaAllah.”
First Arab to Perform a Spacewalk and Accomplishments in Al Neyadi’s Mission
As reported by Al Arabiya, last week, Al Neyadi made history by being the first Arab to perform a spacewalk. He trained for over 55 hours at NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL) at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, to prepare for spacewalks. He blasted into space in March from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida as part of his six-month mission. This mission carries out various experiments, ranging from human cell growth in space to controlling combustible materials in microgravity.
