Akhilesh Yadav Backs Mamata Banerjee Assertion of Support to Congress Where It’s Strong

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has come out in support of Mamata Banerjee’s assertion that the Congress will have to be backed in places where it is strong in the upcoming assembly elections.

Yadav pointed out that the Congress, despite its decline in recent years, still has a solid base in certain areas of the country. He also criticized the BJP and said that its approach to politics is not inclusive and does not take into account the interests of all sections of the society.

“Mamata Banerjee has made a statement which is welcoming and if somebody can support Congress where there is a stronger presence, it is a good idea. We all have to accept that there are certain states where the Congress party has a base, and BJP has no presence. In terms of democratic values, the Congress party should be supported,” Yadav said.

He also added that the BJP’s focus on Hindu nationalism is not in sync with the ethos of the country, which is founded on the principles of secularism and pluralism. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is known for its divisive politics. They have neglected and overlooked the interests of backward and marginalized sections of the society,” Yadav said.

The comments by Yadav come at a time when the political landscape in the country is undergoing significant changes. Several regional parties are looking to form alliances to take on the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections. The Congress, which had been on the fringes of politics in recent times, is also trying to forge alliances with regional parties in order to increase its chances of making a comeback.

The upcoming assembly elections in five states, including West Bengal and Assam, will serve as a precursor to the 2024 general elections. The BJP, which had won a thumping majority in 2019, is hoping to repeat its performance in the next elections.

However, several issues such as unemployment, the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the farmers’ protests have impacted the BJP’s popularity in recent times. In such a scenario, the formation of a united front against the ruling party becomes crucial.

In conclusion, Yadav’s statement backing Mamata Banerjee’s support for the Congress in states where it has a strong base reinforces the idea of regional parties joining hands to take on the BJP. It also highlights the need for inclusive politics that takes into account the interests of all sections of the society, in contrast to the BJP’s divisive approach. As the country prepares for the upcoming assembly elections, it remains to be seen how these political developments will shape its future.
