PM Modi has planned a mega roadshow on Saturday, which will commence from 10 am. It is expected to go through 18 Assembly constituencies, with the participation of over 10 lakh people. In an effort to counter PM Modi’s mega campaign, Rahul Gandhi will hold a roadshow on Sunday, May 7. Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi will address a public meeting along with Rahul Gandhi in Karnataka’s Hubli city on Saturday. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are also expected to take part in 10-15 rallies, public interaction, and roadshow campaigns. Additionally, senior party leader Siddaramaiah will head 28 public rallies, while DK Shivakumar will take part in 19 programs.
Meanwhile, the JD(S) has also ramped up its election campaigns in the state. Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will participate in 50 to 60 events across the state. While he has yet to visit his Channapetna and Ramanagar constituencies, where his son is contesting, Kumaraswamy plans to make up for it by holding mega programs.
In the context of these election activities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress on Friday, calling the party a slave of appeasement and vote-bank politics. Speaking at a public rally in Tumakuru, Karnataka, he said that Congress has become a slave of appeasement, and is unable to contribute to the welfare and development of the state. He further added that under the rule of Congress-JDS, the money meant for villages is often misused. However, he expressed confidence that the BJP would come back to power in the state with a thumping majority.
