Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga title for the 11th successive season after a dramatic last day that saw Dortmund crumble under pressure and draw at home to Mainz.

Dortmund entered Saturday’s decisive final game two points clear of Bayern, but Edin Terzic’s side were stunned to a 2-2 draw after a disastrous first half in which Mainz went two goals ahead and striker Sebastian Haller missed a penalty.

Meanwhile, Bayern traveled to Cologne and took the lead after 10 minutes thanks to an early goal from winger Kingsley Coman.

A late penalty from Cologne midfielder Dejan Ljubicic seemed to cause more late drama as the title headed to Dortmund as it stood. However, Bayern striker Jamal Musiala scored in the 89th minute to seal a memorable 2-1 win.

Dortmund scored an equalizer in stoppage time through Niklas Sule but only had seconds to chase down a winner, with the final whistle confirming Bayern’s 33rd German top flight title.

It has been a turbulent campaign for the German club as they changed managers during the season, but the arrival of Thomas Tuchel in March managed to lead Bayern to another league triumph as they continued their decade-long dominance.
