India U-17s outplayed by Getafe U-18 in training game
In a training game ahead of the upcoming football season, India’s U-17 team went down 1-3 against Spain’s Getafe U-18 team. The game took place at the Oliva Nova Football Centre in Valencia, Spain.
The game started off evenly, with both teams creating chances and going for the attack. However, Getafe U-18 was the first to score, as they took the lead in the 17th minute through Pepe Carmona. India U-17s tried to create chances and equalize, but their attempts were unsuccessful and the first half ended with a 1-0 scoreline in favour of Getafe U-18.
In the second half, India U-17s came out with the intent to equalize and keep the game alive. However, their hopes were quickly dashed, as Getafe U-18 doubled their lead within two minutes of the restart, with a goal from Jorge De Frutos.
India U-17s managed to pull one back in the 63rd minute, with Lalbiakhlua Jongte scoring a goal to make it 1-2. However, hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished as Getafe U-18 scored once again, in the 75th minute, through Daniel Serrano.
India U-17s tried their best to score more goals, but the Spanish team had tightened up their defence and held onto the lead to emerge as the victors with a 3-1 scoreline.
Despite the loss, India U-17s coach Denzil Franco was pleased with his team’s performance, saying that “it was a good game and a huge learning curve for the players. We are still in the process of building the team and such games are essential for us to gain the necessary experience.”
The loss comes as a valuable lesson for India’s U-17 team, as they look to improve their performance ahead of the season. With more training and experience against quality opposition like Getafe U-18, the team is sure to become a formidable force in Indian football.
