If you spend any time at the All England Club during Wimbledon, as I did for several hours this past Monday, you start to notice that many people are dressing in what could be described as starter kits – many men are wearing button-down shirts and shorts. , while women tend to opt for summer dresses or skirts.
But a starter kit, as the name suggests, is just an outfit starting point. Some in the crowd wore blazers or three-piece suits. Others wore sweaters as a sort of accessory, draping them over their shoulders or tying them across their bodies or around their waists.
Wimbledon is known for requiring athletes to wear white. Most of the viewers’ outfits also included at least one white element, often white tennis shoes. And it wouldn’t be a British tennis tournament without more than a few fancy-looking hats.
