The Boat Smart Ring wearable fitness tracker was launched today in India. As the name suggests, the wearable health tracking smart device comes in the form of a ring that users can put on and allow their biometric data to be tracked. The company says that the device is made to be lightweight and suitable for wearing for a long period of time. This announcement comes on the heels of online rumors and leaks surrounding an alleged Samsung Smart Ring device, which has been announced to be unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul, scheduled for later this month.
The company confirmed that it will be announcing the price of the Smart Ring soon and that it will be available for purchase via the official Boat website, Flipkart, and Amazon. It comes with 5 ATM sweat and water resistance, which together with its lightweight design will likely make it easy for users to wear it regularly for long hours.
Like any other fitness tracker, Boat Smart Ring will also track daily fitness activities such as steps and distance covered, and calories burned throughout the day. It also monitors the heart rate, body temperature, SpO2 or blood oxygen levels of the users.
Its body recovery tracking feature uses heart rate variability analysis and general activity logs to provide users with feedback on their overall health. The sleep monitoring feature in Smart Ring predictably tracks sleep patterns, including total sleep duration, time spent in different stages of sleep, i.e. REM, deep sleep, light sleep, and sleep disorders.
Menstruating people will also be able to track and predict their menstrual cycles using the Smart Ring. This feature can allow users to send notifications and reminders on their phones. Users will be able to access all monitored data by connecting to the Boat Ring app on their smartphones. The app will provide data visualizations and information about the user’s health and progress.
