Fahadh Fasil’s Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum Movie Review

Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum is a Malayalam comedy-drama film which has been written and directed by Azhakappan. The film stars Fahadh Faasil and Manju Warrier in the leading roles and is produced by Aashiq Abu and Jesna Ashim. The movie was released on October 22, 2021.

The movie begins with Dr. Ratheesh Kumar (Fahadh Faasil) buying a haunted house that is supposed to have an age-old tale about an enlightened sage’s lamp creating a mystical environment around it. The film follows the events that start unfolding when Ratheesh and his friend Majeed (Joju George) begin to encounter supernatural events inside the house.

The movie’s plot is very convoluted, and it is difficult to understand what the director was going for with this film. The story jumps back and forth between past and present, and the movie often loses its grip on the actual storyline. There are several subplots, like Ratheesh’s love story with Sreelatha (Manju Warrier) and the sage’s backstory, which feel unnecessary and do not add much to the overall plot.

One of the biggest highlights of the movie is Fahadh Faasil’s performance. His impeccable comic timing and effortless acting steal the show. Manju Warrier delivers a convincing performance as Sreelatha, but her character does not get enough screen time to make an impact.

The film’s technical aspects, including the cinematography by Jimshi Khalid and the music by Bijibal, are noteworthy. The sound design by Vishnu Govind and Sree Sankar is another strong point of the movie.

Overall, Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum is a mediocre film. Fahadh Faasil’s performance is the only saving grace of the movie. As a horror-comedy movie, it does not deliver anything new or exciting. The confusing storyline and unnecessary subplots make the movie feel long, and the film feels like it is dragging on for a long time.

In summary, if you’re a Fahadh Faasil fan, you might enjoy the movie for his performance. However, for the rest of the audience, the movie might not be worth your time and money.
