The CW Announces Busy Schedule for 2023-24 Season

The CW network has announced its acquisition-heavy schedule for the 2023-24 TV season, with 14 new series set to debut alongside a host of returning shows.

In a bid to keep its finger on the pulse of popular culture, The CW has picked up a diverse range of series, including sci-fi, fantasy, and superhero dramas.

Among the new acquisitions are “Hello Tomorrow,” a scripted series created by and starring actress and comedian Issa Rae, and “The 4400,” a sci-fi series reboot.

The network has also made a deal with filmmaker Ava DuVernay for her new superhero series “Naomi,” based on the DC Comics character of the same name.

Other series set to debut on the network include “All American: Homecoming,” “4400,” the “Legends of the Hidden Temple” revival, and “The Outpost.”

Returning series include “All American,” “Batwoman,” “Charmed,” “Dynasty,” “The Flash,” “In the Dark,” “Legacies,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” “Nancy Drew,” “Riverdale,” “Roswell, New Mexico,” “Superman & Lois,” and “Walker.”

The CW President Mark Pedowitz announced the schedule at the network’s upfront presentation on Thursday.

“We are incredibly excited to continue to grow and evolve our roster of shows, highlighted by some amazing new series and returning fan favorites,” Pedowitz said in a statement. “We are particularly thrilled to be working with such an incredibly talented group of writers, producers, and actors as we develop these shows and bring them to life.”

Pedowitz also expressed the network’s commitment to increasing diversity both in front of and behind the camera.

“Our priority remains delivering the best programming for our audience while showcasing the diversity of our world,” he said. “We are proud to continue to push the boundaries with our storytelling and representation on television.”

As part of its commitment to diversity, The CW has made a deal with acclaimed director and producer Shonda Rhimes for several new series, including a spinoff of her popular medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy.”

With its diverse and ambitious lineup, The CW is poised to be a major player in the TV landscape for years to come.
