Actor Varun Dhawan, who recently traveled to Abu Dhabi, has shared exciting details about his highly anticipated series, Citadel. Directed by Raj & DK, the series will also star Samantha Ruth Prabhu in a major role. Recently, Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden’s Citadel was released on an OTT platform and left the audience very impressed. Now, they are looking forward to watching the Varun and Samantha series. Varun recently revealed that he will soon be heading to Serbia to film action sequences.
Varun Dhawan Shares Details About Citadel
While speaking to PTI, Varun expressed his excitement about working at the Citadel. He also shared that the audience has yet to see anything like this in India. Varun revealed, “It’s been amazing to work on. We’re going to be shooting in Serbia. We have a month-long schedule there with a lot of action. It’s a very big series, nothing like people have seen in India yet.” He even added that the creators are “pushing the limits.” He went on to call Samantha “one of the hardest working actresses around.”
Added Varun, “The creators are pushing the envelope. Samantha and I can’t be doing something mediocre. She’s one of the hardest working actresses.” The actor even talked about his upcoming film Bawaal. He will be seen sharing a screen with Janhvi Kapoor for the first time. He said that he is proud of Bawaal. Varun said, “There are a few directors who are on your wish list. For me, it was Shoojit Sircar (October), Sriram Raghavan (Badlapur) and Nitesh Tiwari (Bawaal). Some of my best performances come when I work with these directors as who push me. It’s amazing and I feel blessed to be working with Nitesh. Bawaal personally is a film I’m very proud of. He says something that is the need of the hour.”
Bawaal will hit theaters in October this year. Meanwhile, Varun recently made a guest appearance at Priyanka’s Citadel. He dubbed the voice of Priyanka’s on-screen father in the fifth episode. The role of his father is played by British-Indian actor Paul Bazely. Speculation going around suggests that Indian Citadel could feature Varun playing a young Rahi Gambhir (Priyanka’s father) and may be a prequel to Priyanka’s version of Citadel.
