For her latest showcase, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri hosted a Mexico-inspired cruise show.

For this year’s Cruise collection, Dior Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri turned her attention to Mexico, celebrating the region’s past and present.

In the baroque courtyard of the Colegio de San Ildefonso in Mexico City, the models presented garments with the masculine and feminine aesthetic, including loose-fitting jackets, blazers, shirts and mix-and-match ensembles, many inspired by Chiuri’s muse, the artist Frida Kahlo.

In a press release, Dior said the cruise collection is “conceived as a real research project, allowing for an in-depth study of the social and historical implications of artisan cultures” and “creating a space to explore and showcase a series of of work done”. by several indigenous communities.”

This was much like the Dior show earlier this year in Mumbai, for which Chiuri had collaborated with the Chanakya School of Crafts in the city. Similar to the Mexico show, the Mumbai showcase also featured no-nonsense ready-to-wear clothing that suits both a one-day gathering and a pool party.
