UP Civic Polls: Admission by Adityanath that SP Gave Tickets to Rioters in Kanpur

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made a sensational claim that the Samajwadi Party (SP) has given tickets to those responsible for the riots in Kanpur for the upcoming urban local body elections. Despite the SP’s repeated claims that it has zero tolerance towards rioters, Adityanath’s allegation suggests otherwise.

The urban local body elections in Uttar Pradesh are scheduled to be held in three phases, starting from November 22. The Kanpur riots took place in the year 1991, in which more than 100 people were killed.

The Chief Minister’s statement came while he was addressing a rally in Unnao, where he accused the SP of supporting those who create chaos and commit acts of violence. He claimed that the SP has given tickets to individuals who were involved in the Kanpur riots that took place 30 years ago.

Adityanath also highlighted the recent Muzaffarnagar riots where the SP had made an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and appealed voters to unite against such alliances that promote violence and chaos.

The SP has, however, refuted these allegations and said that it has always been against communal and criminal elements in politics. The party has also criticized the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for creating a divide among communities.

The upcoming urban local body elections are being seen as a major test for the BJP, which is in power in Uttar Pradesh. The party is hoping to continue its winning streak in the state, which has proved to be a key battleground for national politics.

The elections come amid a Covid-19 pandemic and a heightened political atmosphere with major rallies and campaigning by the political parties. The elections will be conducted by following strict Covid-19 protocols, including wearing masks and social distancing measures.

In conclusion, Adityanath’s admission that SP has given tickets to rioters in Kanpur for the upcoming local body elections has created a stir in the political circles. While the SP has denied these allegations, the upcoming elections will showcase the support these candidates receive from the voters. With the Covid-19 pandemic adding to the complexity, the situation in Uttar Pradesh remains tense and unpredictable.
